<i>In Situ</i> Durability Characteristics of New and Old Concrete Structures

This paper analyzes field experimental data obtained on about 30 concrete structures, both new (age up to 1 year) and old 60 years). The include in situ non-destructive tests (NDT) of air-permeability kT, electrical resistivity ρ surface moisture m, as well conducted drilled cores: O2-permeability kO, water sorptivity a24, MIP, carbonation rate Kc chloride content Cl at 10 20 mm depth. main conclusions are that kT structures is a good indicator kO a24. Regarding high values accompanied by low a24 tight MIP pore structure. phenomenon attributed microcracks, with strong effect permeation but not so much capillary suction. Similarly, always deep depths. did show correlation either or ρ. In measurements ρ, under the testing conditions, correlate any other durability test. Finally, spread for significantly wider than young suggesting age improves durable weathering damage impair non-durable concrete.
